India considers funding for restoration of Pklong Garai tower, Hoa Lai tower

Chairman of Ninh Thuan provincial People’s Committee Lưu Xuân Vĩnh and Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Parvathaneni Harish had on July 16 an exchange meeting on cooperation activities.

During the reception, Ambassador Parathaneni Harish informed that the Indian Government is considering 7 non-refundable projects in the province, including restoration and preservation of Hoa Lai tower and Po Klong Garai Cham tower. He expressed hope that two sides would closely work together in order to complete procedures for approving, receiving and implementing the projects.

The Ambassador also stated that Ninh Thuan province has a special place in the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and India, with many similarities relating culture, religion and language.

Chairman Lưu Xuân Vịnh expressed his delight at the fine relationship between Vietnam and India upheld by 45 years of diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic partnership in many fields between the two countries.

Po Klong Garai Tower complex comprising of Cham towers was built in the late 13th and early 14th centuries. The complex was recognized as architectural monuments and art of Cham Sculpture.

The Hoa Lai tower complex is located on Highway 1, 15km north of Phan Rang – Thap Cham city. The complex was built in the ninth century and consists of three towers, one wall and brickyard.
