His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa 12th is paying an official visit to Vietnam from April 5 to 21 at the invitation of the Drukpa Vietnam.
During his visit, His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa and the Buddhist Sangha will organize prayer services for a prosperous and peaceful nation in provinces and cities including Hanoi, Phu Tho, Nam Dinh , Vinh Phuc, Da Nang , Dong Nai, Binh Duong and HCM City .
The Drukpa Lineage originated from India almost a thousand years ago and has a wide influence over the countries and territories on the Himalayas as Ladakh, South India , West Bengal, Nepal, Bhutan … Today, the practice centers of Drukpa continue to be developed in Asia ( Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam ), Europe (UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Poland), Latin America ( Argentina, Peru, Mexico ) and many practice groups in North America.
His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa is revered by Himalayan nations as incarnation of Avalokiteshvara Buddha in the next lives in the human world. This embodiment is known as Tulku.
According to the concept of Vajrayana, the Tulkus have a special ability to choose their next incarnation. Prior to his death, the Buddha gave notice of the signs identifying the next incarnation. His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa is the 12th lineage holder.
More than 30 years preaching the Dharma throughout the world, His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa has initiated many humanitarian projects. He founded the Live to Love International Charity Organization to promote environmental protection, relief, education, health services and heritage conservation.
With the tireless efforts for the community, His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa was honored by the United Nations with many prestigious awards.
The Pad Yatra pilgrimages “ for the environment ” by His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa are held every year from one to three months, going through hundreds of kilometers. Members of the delegation collect plastic garbage on the way to call people to protect the environment. In 2010, the volunteers of the Drukpa Lineage broke the Guinness World Record for tree planting in the Himalayas in the shortest time, with 50,033 trees planted within 33 minutes.
His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa visited Vietnam five times.
