PM Nguyễn Xuân Phúc affirmed Viet Nam has consistently pursued the policy of respecting and ensuring the right to freedom of beliefs and religions of all people.
The Government chief made the point on Thursday at his reception for Vatican Deputy FM Antoine Camilleri who is on a working visit to Viet Nam.
PM Phúc also said Viet Nam has paid special care to the development of disadvantaged regions to improve living standards of residents there, including the Catholic followers.
He expressed his pleasure that Viet Nam and the Holy See have maintained the joint working group mechanism which helps both sides to enhance mutual understanding and settle obstacles arising in the bilateral ties.
PM Phúc affirmed Viet Nam expects to further boost relations with the Holy See through the exchange of delegations.
Vatican Deputy FM Antoine Camilleri said he was impressed with the achievements gained by the Government and people of Viet Nam as well as the country’s cultural traditions and rich and dynamic Catholic life.
He expressed his thanks to the Government of Viet Nam for creating favorable conditions for the non-resident representative of the Holy See to work in the country.
The same day, Deputy PM, FM Phạm Bình Minh also hosted a reception for Deputy FM Antoine Camilleri, during which the former noted that the relations between Viet Nam and the Holy See are advancing encouragingly over the past years./.
