On July 23, a delegation from the United Methodist Church (UMC) led by pastor Hope Morgan-Ward visited the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA).
Welcoming the delegation were Director of the GCRA International Cooperation Department Nguyễn Đức Vinh and Deputy Chief of the GCRA’s Office Cát Ngọc Trình.
During the visiting reception, Director Nguyễn Đức Vinh briefed the religious situation in Vietnam, and current State’ policies and laws on belief and religion. He also shared that Vietnam is a multi-religion country and the Vietnamese Party and State always pay due attention to the people’s religious need and guarantee their right to freedom of belief and religion, all religions are equal under the Vietnam’s law and there is no religious conflict in Vietnam. The GCRA has also created favorable conditions for religious organizations to apply for State recognition, he added.
On behalf of the delegation, pastor Hope Morgan-Ward thanked the GCRA for its welcome and briefing on religious information in Vietnam. She also expressed hopes for more cooperation opportunities in the coming time.
