A delegation of the Pure Land Learning Centers in Taiwan led by Venerable Wu Dao visited the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) on March 22.
Welcoming the delegation included Director of the GCRA’s Department of Buddhist Affairs Bùi Hữu Dược, Former Director of the Department of Buddhist Affairs cum Head of the Vietnam Centre for Religious Cultural Heritage Preservation Trần Khánh Dư and representatives of the GCRA’s Office and International Relation Department.
During the event, Director Bùi Hữu Dược shared with the guests religions and beliefs in Vietnam. Accordingly, Vietnam is a multi-religion country with about 95% of population has some forms of belief or religious life, Buddhism has a great influence in the social life with about 47,000 dignitaries, 12,000 pagodas, over 12 million registered followers across the country, and there is also a large number of people influenced by the Buddhist faith.
This is an opportunity for Buddhist organizations to exchange Buddhist cultures, Director Dược said.
In his reply, Venerable Wu Dao thanked the GCRA for its welcome and information on belief and religion affairs in Vietnam. The Venerable also exchanged with the GCRA the possible visit of Most Venerable Master Chin Kung to Vietnam in the coming time.
