Government religious committee leader receives Vatican Cardinal in charge of integral human development

Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng hosted on December 30 a reception for a visiting delegation led by Cardinal Peter Turkson, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.

During the reception, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng shared with the guest the religious life in Vietnam and practical contributions made by religious organizations in general, and the Vietnam Catholic Church in particular, for the socio-economic development in the country.

The government religious committee leader affirmed the State of Vietnam’s policy promoting religious resources for the country development, and noted that the implementation of the Law on Belief and Religion 2016 will create favorable conditions for religions to make further contributions to the country.

The chairman asked Cardinal Peter Turkson for his guidance and support extended to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of VN in developing the Catholic Church and the country.

Cardinal Peter Turkson shared with the host the functions, tasks and recent works of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.

The Vatican Cardinal expressed hope that the relationship between Vietnam – Vatican will be further developed and strengthened, and also extended warm Christmas and New Year celebrations to the GCRA.
