German CDU/CSU parliamentary delegation visits Vietnam

Mr. Volker Kauder led a delegation from the political alliance of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) and Christina Social Union in Bavaria (CSU) to visit Vietnam on August 24. 

During the visit, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyễn Thiện Nhân received Mr. Volker Kauder, parliamentary group leader of the CDU/CSU in the Budestag (Lower House) on August 24.

At the reception, Mr. Nguyễn Thiện Nhân informed the guests about current religious situation in Vietnam and affirmed that people from different religions live in harmony in the country and Vietnam continually facilities freedom to religious practice in accordance with law and encourage religious followers to contribute more to the society. He also shared that the National Assembly is compiling a law on belief and religion expected to be passed by the end of 2016.

On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Volker Kauder thanked the President of VFF Central Committee for its welcome and informed the delegation’s visits to various religious groups. He also expressed his hope that through this visit, the two sides would gain information and experience, there by contributing to boosting mutual understanding and strengthening ties between the two nations.

On the same day, the German guests met with the Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of the Foreign Affairs Ministry Phạm Bình Minh.

During the reception, Mr. Phạm Bình Minh expressed his delight at the fine development of strategic partnership relations between Vietnam and Germany in all fields, especially in political-diplomatic and economic cooperation, and education and training…

The two sides agreed upon further co-operation to bring the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Germany more depth to it in the coming time.

They also exchanged on international and regional issues of mutual concerns, including the East Sea issue.
