The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s (VBS) Chapter in Thua Thien Hue province held on November 3-4 a grand ceremony for Kathina Robe offering and reception of Chao Khun title from the King of Thailand awarded to Senior Venerable Pháp Tông.
Attending the ceremony taking place at Huyen Khong pagoda located in Thua Thien Hue province’s Hoang Tra town were local authorities’ representatives, and large numbers of Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the locality.
During the ceremony, a representative of Royal Thai Embassy in Vietnam presented Chao Khung title to Senior Venerable Pháp Tông, Abbot of Huyen Khong Pagoda.
Earlier, on December 5, 2016, at the Royal Palace of Thailand, King Mahā Vajiralongkorn presented Chao Khun title awarded by late King Bhumibol Adulyadej to 158 monks from Thailand and aboard, including Senior Venerable Pháp Tông- the first Vietnamese monk awarded the title of honor.
