Exploring Iranian culture through Persian carpets

11/22/2014

More than 200 delicate Persian handicraft carpets will be introduced to the Vietnamese public during a three-day exhibition at Hanoi’s Melia Hotel, November 21-23, as announced by the Iranian Embassy in Vietnam on November 14.

Visitors at the exhibition will have a chance to explore Iran’s unique culture through ancient carpets carefully selected from across the Islamic country.

The event, the second of its kind following the first one in 2009, will see the presence of two Iranian carpet-weaving artisans, Bagher Seirafian and Amir Erami, who were named the best carpet weavers at the National Carpet Festival held in Tehran in August this year.

Bagher and Amir will introduce viewers to carpet-weaving knowledge and skills as well as the way to differentiate the Persian carpets and enjoy the beauty of these artistic works.

Iranian Ambassador to Vietnam Hossein Alvandi Behineh hailed the exhibition as a cultural event that would bring Vietnam’s arts lovers closer to the Iranian culture, thus contributing to enhancing mutual understanding between the two nations’ peoples.

He also stressed that the Iranian embassy will prioritize the organization of more cultural events in the coming time to develop the relations between Iranian and Vietnamese peoples and promote the multi-faceted friendship and co-operation between the two countries.
