Delegation from Lao United Buddhists Association, Lao national construction front visits VBS

A delegation from the  Lao United Buddhists Association and  the Central Committee of Lao Front for National Construction visited the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) office based in Quan Su pagoda in Hanoi on August 16.

The delegation led by Most Venerable Vice President of the association Veth Masenay and Vice Chairman of the national front committee Chanthavong Sene Amatmontry was welcomed by Most Venerable Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu.

Sharing with the Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Vice Chairman Chanthavong Sene Amatmontry highlighted the important role of the two Buddhist churches during the long struggle for national independence in each country. He also informed the host of the close relation between the Lao Front for National Construction and the Vietnam Government Committee for Religious Affairs.

Most Venerable Veth Masenay thanked the VBS for its welcomed and expressed hope that Buddhist exchanges including experiences on organizing international Buddhist events between the Buddhist church of the two countries would be further promoted, contributing to practically implement the MOU signed in October 2005.

During the visiting reception, Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu spoke highly of the close relation between Vietnam and Laos during the war for national independence in the two countries. He also stated that the VBS would support the Lao Buddhist Church to successfully organize the Laos-Vietnam-Cambodia Buddhist conference to be held in November this year.

the Most Venerable also took the chance to express his profound sympathy to the Lao Party, Government and people for the severe losses caused by the dam collapse in Attapeu province last month.
