Buddhists from lower Mekong countries held exchange activities in Kien Giang

Buddhist dignitaries representing five lower Mekong countries of Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar and Vietnam held exchange activities on May 27-28 at Thien Truc Pagoda in Kien Giang province. 

The exchange was part of the cross-country pilgrimage by road, co-organized by the 980 Bodhitaya Vijjalaya Monastery in Thailand and Buddhist Churches from the five countries with the participation of nearly 160 monks, clergymen and Buddhist followers in the lower Mekong countries.

Welcoming the delegation included Most Venerable Vice President of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Council Thích Thiện Tâm, Senior Venerable Vice Chairman of VBS’s Chapter in Kien Giang province Thích Minh Nhẫn, Head of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Hoàng Oanh, and local authorities’ representatives.

The inter-national pilgrimage delegation has started their trip from Ubon Chathathani province in Thailand and travelled to Champasak province in Laos, Preah Vihear province in Cambodia and Kien Giang province of Vietnam. The province’s Ha Tien town is the seventh stop of the Buddhist delegation’s journey.
