Binh Phuoc provincial authorities receive Vatican Archbishop

On December 7, Chairman of the provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization Lê Thị Xuân Trang received Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, Vatican’s non-resident Special Envoy to Vietnam.

Speaking at the reception, Chairman Lê Thị Xuân Trang informed the guest religious situation in the province. She said Binh Phuoc province has 8 recognized religions, including Catholicism, Buddhism, Protestantism, Caodaism, Islam, Hoa Hao Buddhism, Pure Land Buddhism Association and Baha'i religion, in which Catholicism in the province has nearly 99,000 followers, 56 dignitaries, 97 worshipping places in three deaneries of Dong Xoai, Phuoc Long, Binh Long.

The local authorities always pays due attention and creates favorable conditions for religious practices, she added.

During the event, Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli thanked the provincial authorities for its warm welcome and information, and said he is glad to see the life of local people, including religious communities, is improving economically and culturally.
