Year-end conference on State management on religious affairs 2014

The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held a conference to review the State management on religious affairs 2014 and map out working plans for 2015 at the Home Affairs Ministry’s hall on January 22.

Attending the conference were Member of the Politburo cum Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc; Member of the Party Committee cum Minister of the Home Affairs Ministry Nguyễn Thái Bình; Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ministry cum Chairman of GCRA Phạm Dũng; Vice Chairmen of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà and Dương Ngọc Tấn; representatives from the Party Central Committee Office, the National Assembly Office, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs…and leaders of the Home Affairs Department and the provincial Religious Affairs Committee from 63 provinces and cities.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman Phạm Dũng stated that State religious affairs 2014 achieved important results, including successful organizations of international religious events, contributing to promote social stability, political security in Vietnam and enhance Vietnam’s image in the world.

Overview of the conference

As approved at the conference, key tasks for religious affairs in 2015 would include the completion of a draft laws on belief and religion, regular inspection of the implementation of policies and laws on religion…

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc speaks at the conference

Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc called on the State sector on religious affairs to strengthen coordination amongst authorities at various levels and dialogues with religious people in order to better understand and meet religious needs of people.  The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that to do well religious affairs would make a practical contribution to Vietnam’ commitment with the United Nations on human rights.

During the year-end event, Minister of the Home Affairs Ministry Nguyễn Thái Bình highlighted the need to strengthen morals and capacities of the personnel working on religious affairs sector and urged local authorities to actively and quickly solve issues and problems when arising in localities, and proactively encourage religious people to live for a better religious and secular life.
