The Government Committee for Religious Affairs visits Most Holy Redeemer Province of Vietnam

A delegation led by Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Nguyễn Tiến Trọng paid on November 11 a congratulating visit to the Most Holy Redeemer Province of Vietnam, on the occasion of the organization of the Asia Oceania Mid-Sexennial Meeting.

Welcoming the GCRA delegation included Priest Fr. Rogério Gomes, C.Ss.R., Superior General of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer; Priest Fr. Dominic Nguyễn Đức Thông, Provincial Superior of Vietnam.

Speaking at the visit, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng shared with the host that Vietnam currently has over 200 religious orders, congregations and groups, with 32,000 priests. The vice chairman also informed the Party and State of Vietnam’s policy for respecting and ensuring freedom of belief and religion, in order to promoting fine traditions and religious resources for the development of the country.

The GCRA’s Vice Chairman spoke highly of practical contributions made by Vietnamese religious orders in the fields of social charities, as well as highlighted the role of the Vietnam Most Holy Redeemer Province in guiding priests, and clergies for contributing to socio-economic development of the country.

The official expressed hope that Priest Fr. Rogério Gomes would continue guiding Vietnam Most Holy Redeemer Province in encouraging priests and clergies to accompany with local authorities for developing the country.

On the occasion, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng extended congratulations to the Mid-Sexennial Meeting and the Vietnam Most Holy Redeemer.

Speaking with the guests, Priest Fr. Rogério Gomes thanked the GCRA for their due attentions and supports in creating favourable conditions for Superiors of Most Holy Redeemer Province in the countries of the Asia Oceania region to meet each other in Vietnam. The meeting has provided timely information about the Party and State's policies and laws in the field of belief and religion, as well as shared important aspects of pastoral affairs of the Most Holy Redeemer Congregation. The Priest affirmed that he would continue fostering the bilateral cooperation in order to promote fine traditions and values, contributing for buiding a the better world.

The Most Holy Redeemer Province of Vietnam has been operating in Vietnam since 1925, with the message of preaching Gospel to the poor, homeless people and the disabilities.
