Vietnam Committee for Catholic Solidarity delegation visits and extends New year wishes to Government Committee for Religious Affairs

On January 9, 2014, Priest Trần Xuân Mạnh, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Vietnam Committee for Catholic Solidarity (VCCS), visited the Government Committee for Religious Affairs on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) 2014.

Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Xuân, Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, and leaders of the committee’s Department for Catholic Affairs received the delegation.

At the reception, Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Xuân congratulated the VCCS on its successful sixth Congress of Vietnamese Catholics for National Construction and Defense (2013-2018 term), which reviewed the operations of the Vietnam Committee for Catholic Solidarity and patriotic emulation movements of Vietnamese Catholics over the past five years. He praised the role of the VCCS in uniting Catholics across the nation and encouraging patriotic emulation movements in parishes, actively contributing to building and defending the country. He also suggested the VCCS continue to maintain its role as a bridge between the life and the religion, uniting Catholics and encouraging them to obey the guidelines and policies of the Party and the law of the State. On behalf of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs leaders, Xuan wished the Vietnam Committee for Catholic Solidarity and Catholics good health and a happy New Year.

Priest Trần Xuân Mạnh expressed his pleasure to visit the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and thanked its leaders for warm welcome. He affirmed that the Vietnam Committee for Catholic Solidarity will continue to well perform its role to unite Vietnamese Catholics in effectively implementing patriotic emulation movements and other campaigns launched by the State and the Vietnam Fatherland Front, contributing to building Vietnam into a more beautiful and civilized country.
