Vietnam, Cambodia promote exchanges on religious affairs

The Vietnamese Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) and a visiting delegation from Cambodian Ministry of Cults and Religions held on March 12 in Ho Chi Minh city a working meeting to exchange experiences on religious affairs in the two countries.

The meeting saw the participation of Chairman of the GCRA Vũ Chiến Thắng, Minister of the Cambodian Ministry of Cults and Religions Him Chhem, Consulate General of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh city Im Hem, members of the Cambodian delegations, and representatives of GCRA’s concerning departments.

During the meeting, the two sides assessed implementing results of the cooperation agreement signed between the two sides in 2015 through exchanges of visits, organization of religious meeting between border provinces of two countries, training of officials, support for Buddhist exchange between the two countries,  etc. These cooperation activities on religious affairs in the two countries have practically contributed to strengthen the traditional friendship and comprehensive co-operation between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Speaking at the event, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng called for further exchanges of high-ranking delegation visits, information and experiences of the State administration on religious affairs in each country as well as facility of Buddhist affairs by the Buddhist church in each country.

Sharing with the hosts on religious activities in Cambodia, Minister Him Chhem also expressed hope for more exchanges and cooperation between the two governance agencies on religious affairs, including training of officials and cooperation activities between bordering provinces of two countries.

The ongoing visit by the Cambodian delegation will conclude on March 15.
