Vice Chairman of Government Religious Committee visits Vietnam Union of Superiors General

Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) cum Head of the working group of Ministry of Home Affairs Nguyễn Tiến Trọng paid on September 14 a visit to the Vietnam Union of Superiors General in Thu Dau Mot city’s Phu Tho ward of Binh Duong province.

Welcoming the guest at the Ba Lua church included Priest Joseph Phan Trọng Quang, General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Superiors General cum Head of Ba Lua parish.

At the visiting reception, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng spoke highly of efforts and practical contributions made by Catholic religious orders and associations for preventing Covid-19 pandemic, supporting the Covid-19 vaccine fund and helping disadvantaged people affected by the pandemic. He also highlighted that many Catholic religious orders in the province have allowed their religious facilities being used as places for Covid-19 quarantine areas and taking care of Covid-19 patients and thousands of priests, clergyman & clergywoman have volunteered to join frontline forces fighting Covid-19 epidemic. The official also sent his sympathy and encouragement to Catholic religious orders and associations facing losses and difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.

Speaking with the host, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng expressed hope that the Superiors general union would continue encouraging Catholic dignitaries and lay followers to strictly observe preventive measures against Covid-19 pandemic and provide practical aids to disadvantaged people and Covid-19 patients.

Priest Joseph Phan Trọng Quang thanked the GCRA for its due support extended to Catholic religious orders, associations and followers hard hit by the pandemic. The priest also informed the guest results of religious affairs and social charities of Catholic religious orders and associations over the past years, and expressed his belief that they would keep on making proactive responses and practical for preventing Covid-19 pandemic and helping disadvantaged people affected by the pandemic./.
