The scientific conference "Relation between Vietnam Buddhism with Buddhism in Laos and Cambodia – the theoretical and practical issues"

On June 19th, 2014, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs held a scientific conference with the theme “Relation between Vietnam Buddhism with Buddhism in Laos and Cambodia – the theoretical and practical issues”.

The conference were chaired by Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà, Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, and attended by representatives from the Committee’ departments and divisions. Representatives from Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) at the conference included Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu - Vice Standing Chairman of the VBS Executive Council; Most Venerable Thích Gia Quang - Vice Chairman of the Executive Council and several Buddhist scholars and researchers.

At the conference, participants discussed the issues regarding the relationship between Vietnam Buddhism with Buddhism in Laos and Cambodia, and stated the similarities and differences in the relationship between the State and Buddhism in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia as well as religious cooperation amongst the three countries ...

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà pointed out that Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia have a long traditional relationship and social and cultural similarities. He also stated the need to strengthen the people-to-people relation between Vietnam and Laos, Cambodia, including religious relations.
