The Government Committee for Religious Affairs holds a conference on belief and state’s administration on belief

On August 8th in Phu Tho province and August 12th in Nam  Dinh province, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held a conference on belief and state’s administration on belief.

Attending the conference were representatives from local authorities; researchers and representatives from worshipping places in the provinces of Phu Tho and Nam Dinh. Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà, Vice-Chairman of the GCRA chaired the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà emphasized the importance of protecting and promoting values ​​of belief activities and avoiding abuse and commercialism of belief to affect social security and order. He also informed that Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc instructed the Ministry of Home Affairs (the Government Committee for Religious Affairs) to make research on belief and state’s administration on belief in order to identify current types of beliefs and their practices throughout the country, as well as, to assess the state’s administration on belief activities.

Overview of the conference in Nam Dinh province

Delegates exchanged and discussed about belief activities and state’s administration on belief, with focus on: belief situation in the provinces of Nam Dinh and Phu Tho; belief activities in the locality and promotion of nation’s cultural characteristics; state’s administration on belief in the localities; impacts of new beliefs to security and order in localities.

Concluding the conference, Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà recorded comments and proposals by local departments and branches, scientific researchers and representatives from some worshiping places.  He also urged local authorities to encourage belief activities for promoting fine traditional values, meeting spiritual needs of people, and to regulate belief activities in conformity with the current framework of law, making contributions to social stability.
