The state management on belief and religion in the southern provinces and cities for the 2nd quarter was reviewed at a conference held in Vung Tau city on June 21.
Attending the event co-organized by the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) and the provincial government of Ba Ria – Vung Tau included Vice Chairman of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Trần Văn Tuấn, and over 100 officials in charge of the state administration on religion from 20 provinces and cities of Vietnam South.
As reported at the event, for last three months, the provincial agencies tasked with the administration on religion have recommended provincial authorities to approve establishments of 15 dependent religious organizations, construction of 25 religious facilities and the grant of land use right certificates of nine religious places.
Local authorities also created favorable conditions for religious organizations to successfully hold big and important religious events in Vietnam South in the 2nd quarter of the years, including the national congress of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Church and the Pure land Buddhist Association, the founding anniversary of Hoa Hao Buddhism, the Buddha’s Birthday Festival, and etc.

Addressing the conference, Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà requested the provincial agencies on the state administration of religion to step up the dissemination and consistent implementation of the Law on Belief and Religion 2016 and its guiding Decree 162, and timely address remaining issues related to religion in the region, including the religion-related relocation of land, compensation and grant of land use right certificates.
