Vice Chairwoman Trần Thị Minh Nga of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) chaired on September 28 a seminar on the social contributions of religion.
The event drew the participation of officials of central management agencies and Hanoi city, scholars and researchers from institutions for religious studies, and heads of the GCRA’s departments.
The seminar on social contributions of religion is part of a project on supporting information and propaganda on ethnicity and religion approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 219/QD-TTg dated 21/02/2019.
During the event, participants focused on discussing contributions of religions in current society, proposing recommendations and measures in the state management to recognize, honor and promote contributions of religious organizations in the cause of national construction and defense.

Speaking at the seminar, Vice Chairwoman Trần Thị Minh Nga emphasized that the Party and State of Vietnam have consistently respected and protected the right to freedom of belief and religion of all people, and created favorable conditions for religious organizations to operate in accordance their mottos and principles and in compliance with the state laws. She also stated that religions in Vietnam have steadily developed and had many direct impacts on the economic, political, social and cultural life, creating social resources, and many ethical norms and standards of religions have been blended into the social ethics, contributing to the formation and enrichment of the nation's fine traditional cultural and ethical values.
