Seminar on religion and patient care

Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Nguyễn Tiến Trọng chaired on November 12 a seminar on religion and patient care.  

The event drew the participation of scholars and researchers from institutions for religious studies, and representatives from religious organizations in Hanoi.

Over the past years, religious organizations have proactively participated in medical examination, care for patients, especially in provinces and cities of Ho Chi Minh, Khanh Hoa, Can Tho, Lam Dong, Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, Thua Thien - Hue, Da Nang, etc

Patient care activities of religious organizations have complied with state laws and regulations of religious organizations. Many religious individuals and organizations have contributed working days and finance to care for the poor, disabled people, people living with HIV/AIDS, leprosy, mental illness, and drug addicts, etc.

Especially, care of the Covid-19 patients by religious volunteers have made significant contributions over the past time.

During the event, participants focused on discussing advantages and disadvantages of religious organizations in patient care over the past time, as well as proposing recommendations and measures to overcome legal barriers and create favorable conditions for religious organizations to fully join in the medical care of people health.

In addition, many patient care activities of Buddhism, Protestantism, Hoa Hoa Buddhism, the Pure-land Buddhist Association, etc were also highlighted during the seminar.
