Religious training contents appraised

The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held on September 24 a meeting for appraisal of religious training contents for fostering knowledge and professional skills in information and propagating policies and laws on belief and religion.  

The training material was part of a scheme supporting information and propaganda on ethnicity and religion approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 219/QD-TTg dated February 21, 2019.

The evaluation council includes nine members led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Thanh Xuân, Senior Lecturer of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics.

Present at the event included Vice Chairwoman of the GCRA Trần Thị Minh Nga, members of the training material’s editorial board, and representatives of the GCRA’s Scientific Council.

According to Decision No. 219/QD-TTg dated February 21, 2019 of the Prime Minister, subjects to be fostered and trained of the scheme included cadres and civils tasked with ethnic and religious affairs, reporters and editors of press agencies and publishing, prestigious people, heads of villages and hamlets in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, staff in charge of information and propaganda work of socio-political organizations, dignitaries and deacons of religious organizations; and tour guides.

With such a diverse object, the training material aimed to equip and update knowledge, policies and laws on belief and religion, professional skills in information and propaganda of policies and laws on belief, and religion and belief and religious affairs; and enhance awareness and capacity for those who will be fostered and trained by the scheme in order to contribute to preserving and promoting fine values of belief and religion for social life, fostering the national unity and religious solidarity in the cause of the national construction and defense.

The meeting listened to criticisms of the evaluation council members, focusing on assessing advantages and disadvantages, and making suggestions on amending and supplementing 16 topics in 3 parts of the training material in order to ensure the objectivity and conformity with the criteria of the Scheme and the document beneficiaries.

Concluding the conference, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Nguyễn Thanh Xuân highly appreciated the practicality, elaborate compilation and quality of the material, as well as suggested the editorial board to complete the material according to the council's comments.
