On January 11, 2014, at Phật tích Trúc Lâm Bản Giốc Pagoda near Bản Giốc waterfall, Đàm Thủy commune, Trùng Khánh district, the northern mountainous province of Cao Bằng, a solemn ceremony was held to sanctify the statue of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva.
Attending the event were Mr. Phạm Dzung, Deputy Minister of Home Affair cum Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs; Mr. Trần Hùng, Vice Chairman of the Cao Bang Provincial People’s Committee; representatives of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council and the Executive Board of the VBS’s Cao Bang chapter; as well as Buddhist monks, nuns and followers inside and outside the country.

Right after the sanctification rituals, President Sang and his entourage, and representatives of Cao Bang province offered incense for the peaceful nation and the happiness of Vietnamese people at the pagoda.
Phật tích Trúc Lâm Bản Giốc Pagoda in the Ban Gioc Waterfall Resort is a work of great significance, practically serving the locals’ religious and spiritual demands and also the development of the resort. President Truong Tan Sang appreciated the VBS Central Committee’s initiative to build the pagoda, affirming that its presence in Ban Gioc Waterfall will contribute to improving the spiritual life of local ethnic minority people, promoting peace and friendship in the border area, and also developing the local tourism.
