NA leader pays pre-Christmas visit to Archdiocese of Hue

National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân paid a visit to Archdiocese of Hue in central Thua Thien-Hue province and met with Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh on December 22, ahead of Christmas 2020.  

Accompanying the NA leader included Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng and representative leaders of Thua Thien Hue and Quang Tri provinces.

During the visit, Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân extended Christmas and New Year greetings to Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh and all dignitaries and parishioners of Hue Archdiocese.

Talking to Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh of the archdiocese, who is also President of Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam, the NA leader highly valued contributions of religious organizations in general, and the Catholic Church in particular, for national construction and defense, and the COVID-19 fight this year.

The NA Chairwoman also appreciated the archbishop and the priests’ encouragement of their followers to support Party guidelines, adhere to State policies and laws, and assist flood victims in the central region, including the fund-raising musical program “Sharing in life” successfully held by the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Vietnam for helping flooded victims. 

For his part, on behalf of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam and Hue Archdiocese, Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh took the chance to thank leaders of the Party, State and the NA leader for due attention and support extended to Catholic countrymen over the past year. He also reaffirmed the commitment to joining efforts for boosting development in the country with motto “Living the Gospel in the heart of the nation”.

Also on December 22, Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân visited Đỗ Trinh Huệ, an outstanding Catholic follower in the Archdiocese of Hue, and extended Christmas and New Year greetings to his family./.
