Minister of Home Affairs visits Southern Affairs Department of Government Religious Committee

Minister of Home Affairs (MOHA) Phạm Thị Thanh Trà paid on December 5 a visit to the Southern Affairs Department of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) based in district 1 of Ho Chi Minh City.  

Joining the visiting reception included Chief of the MOHA’s Office Vũ Đăng Minh, Vice Chairman of the GCRA Nguyễn Ánh Chức and Head of the GCRA’s Southern Affairs Department Trà Quang Thanh.

At the visiting reception, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Ánh Chức briefed the MOHA leader the present situation of belief and religion in 21 provinces and cities of Vietnam South, key tasks assigned to the GCRA’s Southern Affairs Department, and activities of the working group sent to the Southern region for strengthening religious affairs during the most difficult times of the Covid-19 outbreak in Southern provinces and cities.

The GCRA official also informed that the religious organizations in the region have donated cash and sent medical equipment and support supplies worth 1,500 billion VND for the pandemic prevention work over the past two years.

Speaking at the visiting reception, Minister of Home Affairs Phạm Thị Thanh Trà spoke highly of efforts of the GCRA’s Southern Affairs Department and the working group sent to the Southern region in supporting religious followers and organizations adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic over the past months.

These efforts have practically contributed to the pandemic prevention and encouraged religious organizations to raise funds and gather resources for joining hands with local authorities in the pandemic prevention and control work in Southern localities, she said.
