Leader of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs congratulates the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha on the occasion of the Buddha’s birthday 2014

On May 12, 2014, at the Office of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) (Quan Su pagoda, Ha Noi), Mr. Phạm Dũng, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) visited and congratulated the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha on the occasion of the Buddha’s birthday 2014 – B.E 2558.
Joining the meeting were Mr. Bùi Hữu Dược Director of Department of Buddhist Affairs, Mr. Cát Ngọc Trình, Deputy Chief of the Office of the GCRA.
On behalf of the CGRA, Mr. Phạm Dũng extended best wishes to Buddhist’ dignitaries monks, nuns and followers on the occasion of the Buddha’s birthday 2014 – B.E 2558. He also highly appreciated the contribution of dignitaries, monks, nuns and Buddhists in the social charities, building and defense of the country. On this occasion, he congratulated the VBS for successful hosting the UN Day of Vesak 2014 (from May 8 – 10 2014) in Ninh Binh province which created good impressions to people in Vietnam and overseas. The success of the UN Day of Vesak 2014 has shown a positive and important development of Buddhism in Vietnam and affirmed the role of close attachment to the nation in building and defending the country.
On behalf of the VBS, Most Ven. Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Vice President of the Executive Council expressed thanks to agencies, departments, especially the GCRA for creating favorable conditions for the VBS to successfully host the UN Day of Vesak 2014. He also shared that UN Vesak celebration demonstrated the foreign policy of openness, the sound policy on belief and religion of the State and Party, and enhanced the position of the VBS in the region and the world./.
