Leader of Government Committee for Religious Affairs attends the Buddha’s birthday in Hung Yen province

On May 2, 2014 at Nom pagoda, Dai Dong commune, Van Lam district, Hung yen province, the provincial Buddhist Sangha held the Buddha’s birthday 2014 – B.E 2558

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Vũ Trọng Kim - Member of Party Central Committee, Standing Vice Chairman cum Secretary General of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Phạm Dũng, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA), representatives from localities, Buddhist dignitaries and followers in Hung Yen province.

On the occasion of the Buddha’s birthday Mr. Phạm Dũng presented flowers to leaders of the provicial Buddhist Sangha, monks, nuns and Buddhists in Hung Yen province. On behalf of the Committee’s leaders, Mr. Bùi Hữu Dược, Director of Buddhist Affairs extended best wishes to monks, nuns and Buddhists. He also said that the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) will host the 2014 United Nations Day of Vesak at Bai Dinh pagoda in Ninh Binh province. The UN Vesak Day 2014 will demonstrate the prestige of the VBS to other Buddhist Sanghas in the world and creates an opportunity for Buddhists to meet and practice Buddhism.
