Joint Working Group holds the 4th meeting to help VBS hosting the United Nations Day of Vesak 2014 in Vietnam

On April 29, 2014, at the head office of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA), the Joint Working Group held the 4th meeting to help the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) hosting the United Nations Day of Vesak 2014 in Vietnam. This was the last meeting of the Join Working Group for the upcoming the United Nations Day of Vesak 2014

Attending the meeting were members of the Joint Working Group from 11 ministries, central agencies and 4 related localities; Most Ven. Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Chairman of the UNDV 2014 and representatives from VBS. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Phạm Dũng, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Chairman of the GCRA, Head of the Joint Working Group.

At the meeting, members of the Joint Working Group informed results of implementing works to instruct and help the VBS hosting the United Nations Day of Vesak 2014 (UNDV 2014). They also pointed out remaining difficulties and works that need to be uniformly directed or submitted to the Prime Minister for approval.

Since its establishment, the Joint Working Group has worked together and closely coordinated with VBS to implement instructions of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc for guiding VBS in the hosting of the UNDV 2014, and ensuring necessary conditions for safety and success of UNDV 2014.

So far, the preparations for the UNDV 2014 at Bai Dinh Pagoda, Ninh Binh province have been basically completed. The UNDV 2014 is expected to welcome about 1,500 delegates who are leaders of Buddhist organizations and sects, and Buddhists from 95 countries, as well as about 10,000 Buddhist compatriots and people going to joint Vesak 2014 every day.
