Home affairs ministry’s working group visits Ho Chi Minh city Archdiocese

Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Nguyễn Tiến Trọng, Head of the working group of Ministry of Home Affairs,   paid on September 5 a working visit to the Cathedral of Ho Chi Minh city Archdiocese located in the city’s District 1.

 

 

Accompanying the GCRA official included Director of the GCRA’s Southern Religious Affairs Department Trà Quang Thanh and Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh municipal Home Affairs Department cum Chairman of the municipal Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Duy Tân.

The GCRA delegation was welcomed by Archbishop of the archdiocese Joseph Nguyễn Năng and Priest Vicar General of the archdiocese Ignatius Hồ Văn Xuân.

Speaking with the host, GCRA Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng spoke highly of efforts of the Vietnam Catholic Church in general and Ho Chi Minh city Archdiocese for joining local authorities in the Covid-19 prevention and control, as well as their charitable work for supporting people affected by the pandemic.  

The GCRA official Nguyễn Tiến Trọng also expressed that the Archbishop would continue encouraging dioceses, congregations to strictly observe regulations of the Government, the Prime Minister, the GCRA and the municipal authorities for the Covid-19 prevention and control, as well as make practical contributions for helping infected patients and disadvantaged people in localities.

Speaking with the guests, Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Năng took the chance to thank the GCRA for its visit and encouragement extended to the Catholic archdiocese affected by the pandemic, and stated that the archdiocese would closely monitor the situation for guiding religious practices and the Covid-19 prevention and control in dioceses, and encouraging practical contributions for supporting people hard hit by the pandemic.
