Ho Chi Minh city: Seminar on belief practices held

On July 9, a seminar entitled “Belief and State administration on belief practices in Vietnam” was held in Ho Chi Minh city.

Attending the conference were Vice Chairmen of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Dương Ngọc Tấn and Trần Tấn Hùng, and over 70 delegates from cities and provinces in the Central Vietnam, Central Highlands and  Southwest region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman Dương Ngọc Tấn said that belief and religion play an important role in the Vietnamese cultural life, and currently, about 95% of the Vietnamese population practices some forms of belief and religion, in which the worship of ancestors is practiced by the largest share of people and about 24,3 million people follow various religions.

Animated practices of many forms of beliefs have recently attracted a large number of people and tourists across the country and abroad. Activities such as festivals of traditional beliefs contributed to meet people’s spiritual needs,  encourage followers to do good things and preserve national characteristics and fine cultural values.
