A conference reviewing the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA)’s performances in the first six months 2021 and mapping out plans for the rest of the year was held on July 5 at the GCRA’s office.
The conference was chaired by Deputy Minister of the Home Affairs Ministry cum Chairman of the GCRA Vũ Chiến Thắng and participated by the GCRA’s Vice Chairpersons, and heads of the GCRA’s departments and units.
According to Chief of the GCRA’s Office Nguyễn Văn Long, in the first six months 2021, the GCRA completed 92% of planned tasks. The GCRA has effectively implemented the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies on belief and religion, well proposed to the Party, Government and Minister of Home Affairs the state management on belief and religion, and strengthened the communication work in the field of belief and religion.
He also highlighted practical contributions made by religious organizations in the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People’s Council at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure, in which 20 religious worshipping places were chosen as venues of polling stations, 5/8 religious dignitaries were elected as deputies to the 15th National Assembly, and 88/122 dignitaries and deacons elected to People's Council at the province and city level.
Regarding the Covid-19 prevention work, religions organizations have continued promoting their resources and accompanying with the government and people in the Covid-19 prevention and practically contributing to the Covid-19 vaccine fund, and presented medical supplies to peoples of Laos, Cambodia, India, Nepal, etc.,
The draft report also pointed out limitations and remaining issues relating the state administration on belief and religion in the first 6 months 2021.

Addressing at the conference, Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng highly appreciated the solidarity and efforts of the GCRA’s officials and employees, working results recorded in the first six months of 2021.
The Deputy Minister asked the GCRA’s office to fully absorb comments raised at the conference to complete the working report for the first six months of 2021 and key tasks for the last six months.
Regarding key tasks for the last six month of 2021, Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng emphasized the completion of reports on the assigned tasks submitted to the Prime Minister, the three-year implementation of the Law on Belief and Religion and its guiding decree No.162, guidance for congresses, annual conferences and festivals of religious organizations in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, scrutiny and strengthened management on heresies and deviant faiths, close coordination with concerning central agencies on belief and religious affairs, regular inspection on the implementation of the state policies and laws on belief and religion, and timely handling of complaints by religious individuals and organizations, etc.
