Government Religious Committee receives delegation of World Conference of Religions for Peace

On February 22, Chief Executive Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Bùi Thanh Hà received a delegation of the World Conference of Religions for Peace led by Deputy Secretary General Kyoichi Sugino.

Welcoming the guests included leaders of the GCRA’s Departments of Buddhist and International Relation Affairs, and GCRA’s Office.

Speaking at the reception, Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà thanked Mr. Kyoichi Sugino for his visit and stated that Vietnam is a peace-loving country and has a consistent foreign policy with the aim to ensure peace and stability for socio-economic development in the country.

It’s reported that the World Conference of Religions for Peace is an international non-governmental organization, which has been recognized by the United Nations’ Economic and Social Council. The Organization has 90 representative offices in 90 countries worldwide with its headquarter in New York, USA. The World Conference of Religions for Peace works to promote peace, sustainable development and environment protection.

Mr. Kyoichi Sugino expressed his hope that the World Conference of Religions for Peace will have opportunity to exchange and strengthen cooperation with religions in Southeast Asia in general, as well as Vietnam in particular, in the coming time. On this occasion, he also invited the GCRA to attend an exchange conference of the World Conference of Religions for Peace to be held in April, 2016 in South Korea.
