Government religious committee receives Christian dignitaries from Singapore

Director of the International Relation under the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Đức Vinh received on August 20 a Christian dignitaries from Singapore led by Bishop Rennis Ponniah, Head of the Anglican Church in Singapore.

While informing the guests about the current religious life in the country as well as policies and laws of Vietnam State on belief and religion, Director Nguyễn Đức Vinh stated that Vietnam is a multi-religion country with 41 recognized religious organizations belonging to 15 religions. He also highlighted that the Vietnamese Party and State always respect and guarantee the right to freedom of belief and religion for every people.

 Regarding the Law on Belief and Religion 2016, he said the new law took effect on January 1 and is creating favorable conditions for religious organizations to operate and make practical contributions to the country.

Bishop Rennis Ponniah shared with the host the Anglican Church and the Protestant community in Singapore, and the Christian church associated with Anglicanism in Hanoi. Singapore is currently home to 20,000 followers of Anglicanism with 27 parishes.
