Government Religious Committee receives Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s representative

Assistant Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Country Information Sector in Australia Tracey Macmillan visited the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) on September 16.

Welcoming the guest included Deputy Director of Legislation and Inspection Department Nguyễn Thị Định, Acting Director of Protestant Affairs Department Thiều Thị Hương. A representative of Australian Embassy in Vietnam also joint the visiting reception.

During the reception, the two side exchanged on the religious life in each country, and the registration of religious practices and the draft Law on belief and religion in Vietnam.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Director Nguyễn Thị Định stated that the State of Vietnam always creates favorable conditions for the religious organizations to apply for State recognization of organizational legal status. 

Regarding the draftt Law on belief and religion, Mrs. Định shared that the draft law is expected to be considered for approval by the National Assembly in October of 2016. The National Assembly’s Standing Committee still welcomes comments to improve the draft law, contributing to ensure freedom of belief and religion for everyone.
