Government Religious Committee presents recognition certificate to Vietnam Full Gospel Church

Authorized by Minister of Home Affairs, Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Nguyễn Tiến Trọng has presented the decision to recognize Vietnam Full Gospel Church as a religious organization at a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh city on December 27.

The Vietnam Full Gospel Church was founded in 1990 and has been granted the registration certificate according to the Law on Belief and Religion in 2018. The Church currently has nearly 8,000 followers with 201 congregation operating in 46 provinces and cities throughout the country. The temporary headquarters of the church is located in Ward 4 in Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Binh district. The Church has convened its 1st general assembly in May, 2023 and elected its 21-member executive committee of the Church for 2023-2027 tenure led by President Đinh Thanh Hùng.

Since being granted the registration certificate for religious operation in 2018, the Vietnam Full Gospel Church has implemented social and charitable activities, such as raising fund for floods, presenting support to the poor and supporting the Covid-19 prevention work, etc with the total contribution of over 12 billions VND over the past five years.

Addressing at the event, while extending congratulations to dignitaries and all followers of the Church, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng stated that the recognition decision is an important, turning point, acknowledging the Vietnam Full Gospel Church’s operation in line with the law over the past years, and opening a new period for the Church with more rights, obligations and opportunities. He informed that the Vietnam Full Gospel Church is the first Protestant Church in Vietnam to be granted the registration for religious functioning and the recognition as a religious organization according to the Law on Belief and Religion 2016.

He expressed hope that with the new legal status, the Church would have favorable conditions to affirm its operational guideline and purposes following God's teachings, accompanying the nation and observing to the law through activities for better secular and religious life, and further contributions for the social community.

On behalf of the Full Gospel Church, President Đinh Thanh Hùng thanked the Vietnamese Party and State for favorable conditions for the Protestant Churches in general, the Gospel Church in particular, and highly appreciated the guidance and support from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the GCRA for the Church to be granted the official recognition as a religious organization.
