Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) cum Head of the Home Affairs Ministry’s working group Nguyễn Tiến Trọng on September 18 visited and met with Khmer dignitaries of Pothiwong pagoda in Ho Chi Minh city.
The GCRA official was welcomed by Venerable Tăng Ngọc An, Abbot of Pothiwong pagoda.
Speaking with the host, Vice Chairman of the GCRA Nguyễn Tiến Trọng highly appreciated practical contributions made by Khmer Buddhist dignitaries to the Covid-19 prevention and control work including a strict observation of guidelines of the Government the Ministry of Health, the GCRA and the municipal authorities and charitable activities over the past months.
The Vice Chairman also sent his sympathy and encouragement to families of Senior Venerable Deputy Head of the pagoda Dương Tanh and other monks of the pagoda who unfortunately passed away due to Covid-19 pandemic and to monks infected with Covid-19 while offering volunteering services.
For his part, Venerable Tăng Ngọc An thanked the GCRA for its due attention and support extended to Khmer dignitaries of the pagoda. He expressed that with his responsibility, he would continue encouraging monks and followers to strengthen preventive measure against the pandemic and provide essential supplies to people hardly affected by the pandemic.
