Government religious committee official visits Minh Ly Church

Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) cum Head of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA)’s working group Nguyễn Tiến Trọng paid on September 7 a visit to the Church of Minh Ly – Tam Tong mieu (Temple of Three Sects).

Rev. Trà Văn Tứ, Acting Chief of the Church welcomed the GCRA delegation at the church office located in Ward 4 of Ho Chi Minh city’s District 3.

At the visiting reception, GCRA Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng informed Minh Ly Church of the MOHA’s working group ministry in Ho Chi Minh City that aimed at strengthening state religious affairs in Ho Chi Minh City in the context of ongoing Covide-19 outbreak. The working group’s tasks would include guidance and support for assisting religious organizations city to implement measures for the Covid-19 prevention and carry out social and charitable activities for helping people in need by sending essential supplies, medicines and medical equipment, and supporting the Vaccine Fund and the Covid-19 prevention and control fund.

Vice Chairman of the GCRA Nguyễn Tiến Trọng highly appreciated efforts made by the Church to the Covid-19 prevention and control. He expressed hope that the leadership and all members of Minh Ly Church would continue joining local authorities in the Covid-19 prevention work and supporting the Vaccine Fund of the Government. 

Speaking with the guest, Rev. Trà Văn Tứ took the chance to thank the MOHA and GCRA their due supports extended to the Church in religious affairs over the past years. He said that in the complicated context of the pandemic, Minh Ly Church has issued dispatches requesting a strict implementation of preventive measures against the pandemic, such a conscientious observance of the Health Ministry's 5K message, suspension of religious gatherings and raised posters on Covid-19 prevention and control in religious establishments.

The Church has also contributed 68 million VND to the Vaccine Fund, sent two followers who are doctors to join in frontline forces at field hospitals in Ho Chi Minh city and two followers who are nurses join in frontline forces at hospitals in Long An province.

In addition, Minh Ly Church has presented free meals, rice, fruits and vegetables, etc., worth nearly 300 million VND, to people in pandemic hot spots in the city.

He also informed that 164 key followers of the Church have received the first shot of Covid-19 vaccine.
