Government religious committee official extends Tet greetings to President of VBS’s Executive Council

Director of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA)’s Southern Religious Affairs Department Trà Quang Thanh on January 27 visited and met with Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Council, ahead of Lunar New Year (Tet) 2021.
During the visit, Diretor Trà Quang Thanh conveyed thanks from the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng to Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn and other VBS dignitaries for guiding monks, nuns and lay Buddhists to practically contribute to patriotic emulation movements and the COVID-19 epidemic prevention over the last year.
He extended Tet greetings to the President and other members of the VBS’s Executive Council and expressed hope that the most venerable would continue encouraging monks, nuns and lay Buddhists to strengthen national unity and practically contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.
At the visiting
Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn took the chance to thank the GCRA for favorable conditions extended to the affairs of the VBS over the past years and affirmed that the VBS would always accompany with the nation and continue guiding Buddhist followers to implement the motto “good life – good religion”, promote religious unity, and fulfill all civil duties, contributing to peace and sustainable development in the country.
On the same day, Director Trà Quang Thanh and Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn attended the “0 VND fair” for bringing supports to poor people ahead of Tet.
