Government religious committee official extends Buddha’s Birthday greetings to VBS

Vice Chairwoman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Trần Thị Minh Nga paid on May 25 a visit to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Council in Hanoi, on occasion of the Buddha’s Birthday festival 2021.

The GCRA Vice Chairwoman accompanied by Director of the GCRA’s Buddhist Affairs Department Nguyễn Phúc Nguyên was warmly welcomed at Quan Su pagoda by Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Standing Vice President of the VBS’ Central Executive Council, and Senior Venerable Thích Đức Thiện, Vice President cum General Secretary of the VBS central executive council.

During the visit, Vice Chairwoman Trần Thị Minh Nga presented the floral bouquets sent by Prime Minister and Minister of the Home Affairs Ministry to the VBS on occasion of the Buddha’s Birthday festival 2021.

While extending Buddha’s Birthday greetings to the VBS and all Vietnamese Buddhists, the GCRA official expressed hope that the VBS would continue accompanying with the state authorities and people in the country in the Covid-19 epidemic prevention.

She also share with the VBS leaders on the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People’s Committee at all level organized on May 23 and highly appreciated the proactive participation of the VBS, monks, nuns and lay Buddhists in the country, contributing to the success of the election.

Speaking with the guest, Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu took the chance to thank the GCRA for its visit and congratulation. The Buddhist dignitary also informed guests of the Buddha’s Birthday ceremony to be held on May 26 at Quan Su pagoda that would be reduced in scale and with a limited number of participants and broadcast online via the VBS’s websites and social networks, in order to strictly implement the recommendations of the health sector for the Covid-19 prevention.
