Government Religious Committee official congratulates Catholicism and Nation Newspaper on Press Day

A delegation from the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) led by Director of Southern Religious Affairs Department Trà Quang Thanh on June 20 visited and extended congratulations to the Catholicism and Nation Newspaper on occasion of  the 97th anniversary of the Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press Day (June 21).

Director of GCRA’s Southern Religious Affairs Department Trà Quang Thanh presents floral congratulation to Catholicism and Nation Newspaper

The GCRA delegation was welcomed by Priest Peter Phan Khắc Từ, Editor-in-Chief of the Catholicism and Nation Newspaper cum General Secretary of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics.

Speaking with the hosts, while extending best wishes to the editorial board and journalists of the newspaper on Press Day, Director Trà Quang Thanh praised contributions of the newspaper in communicating activities of the Catholic Church in Vietnam and the world, as well as disseminating the Party's guidelines and the State's policies on belief and religion. Especially, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the newspaper has promptly reflected on charitable activities and practical contributions of Catholic groups and individuals.

Director Trà Quang Thanh expressed hope that Priest Peter Phan Khắc Từ and journalists of the newspaper would continue promoting its fine traditions and encouraging lay Catholics and people to proactively join patriotic movements, contributing to the development of the Catholic Church and the country of Vietnam.

For his part, Priest Peter Phan Khắc Từ took the chance to thank the GCRA delegation for its visit. He shared with the guests advantages and disadvantages in the press and publication work of the newspaper, as well as supports of the Ho Chi Minh city’s authorities in building the headquarters of the newspaper.
