Government religious committee leaders extends Tet visits to Buddhist, Protestant organizations in Hanoi

Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng led a delegation on February 5 to visit headquarters of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (North - ECVN) and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Hanoi, ahead of Lunar New Year (Tet) 2018.
The GCRA delegation was welcomed by Pastor President of the ECVN (North) Nguyễn Hữu Mạc and Most Venerable Standing Vice President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu.
During the visiting receptions, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng extended Tet greetings to all dignitaries and followers of the Evangelical and Buddhist churches, and took the chance to ask the Buddhist and Evangelical organizations to disseminate the new law on belief and religion as well as its guiding degree to all Buddhist and Evangelical followers, as these legal documents came into force early this year.

GCRA delegation’s Tet visit to VBS’s Northern Office
Speaking with the guests, the Evangelical and Buddhist leaders thanked the government religious committee for facilitating religious practices by followers of the Evangelical and Buddhist churches over the past year, especially the 500th Anniversary of Reformation Day and the 8th Buddhist National Congress successfully held in Hanoi.

On the same day, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng and his delegation visited and met with Most Venerable Vice President of the VBS Executive Council Thích Gia Quang at Lien Phai Pagoda located in Hanoi. While extending Tet wishes to the Most Venerable, the GCRA leader asked him to further guiding and encouraging Buddhist followers to actively engage in social programs and movements for national construction and social development in the country./.
