On February 11, Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Dương Ngọc Tấn hosted a reception for visiting Archbishop Secretary of the Russian Orthodox Church’s administrative secretariat Sergey Chapnin who has been appointed to take charge of the Church’s rituals in Southeast Asia and Asia.
Joining the reception included representatives of the GCRA’s Office, Department of International Relation and Department of Other Various Religion’s Affairs and officials of the Russian Embassy in Vietnam.
During the reception, Archbishop Sergey Chapnin shared with the hosts about the Russian Orthodox Church including the Church’s motto and operating principles and social-charitable activities, as well as religious activities of the Russian Orthodox Church’s followers in Vietnam.
Speaking at the reception, Vice Chairman Dương Ngọc Tấn informed the guests about the Law on Belief and Religion adopted by the Vietnam’s National Assembly in November last year provided specific stipulations on religious activities by foreigners and the registration of the representative committee in Vietnam. So, foreign religious organizations will be guided and created favorable conditions for conducting religious activities according to the legal framework in Vietnam.
