Government Religious Committee leader receives LDS Church delegation

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs cum Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Phạm Dũng met Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 18.

Welcoming the delegation also included Vice Chairman of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà, and Heads of the International Cooperation Department and Protestant Affairs Department.

At the visiting reception, Chairman Phạm Dũng informed the guests about current religious situation in Vietnam, and affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State always respect and guarantee the right to freedom of belief and religion for every Vietnamese. He also shared that Vietnam is drafting a law on belief and religion, and this law follows the spirit of the Constitution 2013 that affirm the right to freedom of belief and religion for every Vietnamese.

During the event, Mr. Jeffrey R. Holland thanked the GCRA for its welcome and invited GCRA’s leaders to visit headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the USA.

Last year, the Interim Representative Committee of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - day Saints   Vietnam was officially recognized by the GCRA on May, 30.
