On Sept. 22, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ministry cum Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Phạm Dũng received His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa of the Drukpa Order and his delegation on occasion of their visit to Vietnam from September 21 to November 4.
At the reception, Mr. Phạm Dũng shared with the guests that Vietnam currently has 14 registered religions, in which Buddhism, with approximately 12 million registered followers, has a great influence. He also spoke highly of contributions made by the Drukpa Lineage in protecting the environment, creating gender equality and building peace in the world.
During the visiting reception, His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa thanked the GCRA for its support and favorable conditions extended to activities of all religions in Vietnam. He stated that the teachings of all religions in general, and Buddhism in particular, are to help, love and educate people as well as make positive contributions to the communities and societies.
It’s reported that during the visit to Vietnam this year, the India Buddhist delegation will conduct prayers for peace and sharings of Buddhist teachings in several provinces and cities across the country, including Ha Noi, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Da Nang, Long An, Tay Ninh, Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh city.
