Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng hosted a reception on January 17 for a visiting delegation from Lang Son diocese ahead of Lunar New Year (Tet) 2019.
The Catholic delegation was led by Bishop of the diocese Joseph Châu Ngọc Tri.
Joining the reception was representatives of the GCRA’s Catholic Affairs Department and the GCRA’s office.
During the reception, Bishop Joseph Châu Ngọc Tri extended Tet greetings to the GCRA’s officials and staff. He also took the change to thank to the GCRA for its role and contributions in improving relations between the Catholic church and state authorities at all levels over the past year, as well as expressed hope that the GCRA would continue creating favorable conditions to the diocese’s religious affairs in the coming time.
Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng shared with the Bishop Joseph Châu Ngọc Tri of the Vietnam-Vatican joint working group 7th meeting convened on December 19 in Ha Noi which contributed to consolidate and expand of bilateral ties.
The GCRA’s leader also extended New Year greetings to Lang Son diocese’s dignitaries and followers.

On the same day, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng also hosted a reception for visiting Priest Joseph Nguyễn Văn Quang, President of the Vietnam Council of Major Superiors of Religious ahead of New Year 2019.
During the reception, the GCRA’s leader highly appreciated the practical contributions of Catholic dignitaries and followers in Catholic orders in the fields of health, preschool education, vocational training and social welfares. He also extended New Year greetings to religious orders’ priests, clergymen and clergywomen.
