Government religious committee leader meets with Lao Buddhist dignitaries

Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng led a delegation to visit the Lao United Buddhists Association and meet with Vietnamese Buddhist communities in Vientiane on April 8, on occasion of his working visit to Laos from April 5-9.

While welcoming the GCRA delegation’s visit to the headquarters of the Lao Buddhist association, Most Venerable Vice President of the association Veth Masena stated that the relation of friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos has created favorable conditions for Buddhist exchanges and development in the two countries.

The Lao Buddhist leader also highly appreciated supports from the State and Buddhist Sangha of Vietnam extended to the country and people of Laos over the past years, and expressed hope that the GCRA’s working visit to Laos would further contribute to promote Buddhist exchanges and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.    

Speaking with the host, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng thanked the Lao Buddhist sangha for its many supports given to Vietnamese Buddhists and people, and expressed hope that Buddhist exchanges and cooperation between the two country would be further promoted. The Vietnam religious committee leader kindly asked for the Lao United Buddhists Association’s due attention to Vietnamese Buddhists in Laos and the establishment of a Buddhist organization of overseas Vietnamese in  Laos.

The GCRA chairman also expressed hope that the Laos-Vietnam-Cambodia Buddhist conference to be held in November 2018 will be a great success.

GCRA delegation meets with Vietnamese Buddhists in Phat Tich (Buddhist Relic) Pagoda

In meeting with Vietnamese communities in pagodas of Phat Tich (Buddhist Relic) and Bang Long the same day, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng asked Vietnamese overseas to well observe laws and regulations of the host country and expressed his support for the establishment of a Buddhist association of the overseas Vietnamese community in Laos. It would serve as a cultural center of Vietnam, he added, stating each pagoda should open a Vietnamese language learning class for preserving fine cultural traditions.
