Government religious committee leader extends Vesak greetings to Vietnam Pure-land Buddhist Association

Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng led on May 5 a delegation to visit the Vietnam Pure-land Buddhist Association based in Hung Minh Tu temple in Ho Chi Minh city on occasion of the Buddha Birthday 2020 (B.E 2564).
Chairman of the Central Committee of the Pure-Land Buddhist Association Nguyễn Văn Tuy welcomed the GCRA delegation.
During the visiting reception, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng extended Vesak congratulations to followers of the Buddhist Association on occasion of the Buddha’s Birthday 2020 and expressed his appreciation for the Association’s efforts in the country’s fight against COVID-19.
The Chairman also called on members of Buddhist Association to further observe regulations of the Government and concerning agencies in religious practices suiting to practical conditions of the nCov pandemic in localities, contributing to the fight against the pandemic.
As reported, the Vietnam Pure-land Buddhist Association received the legal recognition from the Vietnam Government in 2007. The association currently has 1.5 million members with 210 offices and 212 charitable clinics in 23 provinces and cities, and 6,000 dignitaries and deacons. The association has contributed nearly 180 billion VND to social charities in the country.
