Government Religious Committee leader extends traditional New Year visits to Catholic dioceses

Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Dương Ngọc Tấn led a delegation to visit Bac Ninh Diocese on January 23 ahead of the upcoming Lunar New Year Festival.

Welcoming the delegation was Bishop Cosme Hoàng Văn Đạt of Bac Ninh, Secretary General of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam.

Speaking at the reception meeting, Vice Chairman Dương Ngọc Tấn expressed hope that the bishop and priests of the diocese would continue encouraging and guiding local Catholics to strive for “better secular and religious life”.

Earlier, the delegation visited Thai Binh Diocese and met with Bishop Peter Nguyễn Văn Đệ and Bishop Francis Xavier Nguyễn Văn Sang. While extending New Year wishes to local Catholic dignitaries and followers, Vice Chairman Dương Ngọc Tấn congratulated Thai Binh Diocese on completion of the Communion House construction and upgrading of areas surrounding the diocese cathedral.
