Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng led a delegation to visit Hai Phong Diocese on February 9, ahead of Vietnam’s Traditional New Year (Tet) of the Dog 2018.
Welcoming the GCRA delegation was Bishop of Hai Phong Joseph Vũ Văn Thiên and the diocese priests.
During the visiting reception Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng spoke highly of social and charitable contributions by Catholics in the country.
While extending Tet greetings to Bishop Joseph Vũ Văn Thiên and Catholic dignitaries and followers of Hai Phong diocese, the GCRA leader also called on the Catholic diocese to closely collaborate with state authorities for serving common interests of the country and its people.
Bishop Joseph Vũ Văn Thiên took the chance to thank the government religious committee and local authorities for creating favorable conditions for practices of Catholicism in the diocese, and expressed hope for the strengthening of cordial relations between the diocese and state authorities./.
